Training course objectives
Decision trees are robust, fast and easy to understand. This course gives a deep insight into the methodology of decision trees.
Target group
This course addresses project managers and qualified specialists from the commercial sector (marketing, sales, controlling, &c.) who wish to use their data stocks in a targeted manner using the established decision tree method.
Course contents
The course comprehensively imparts the methodology of tree-based procedures. The functioning of the procedures is described and the most popular parameters and their effects are explained.
The subjects
- Fundamentals of decision trees: division rules, pruning
- Overview of the procedures: ID3, FACT, QUEST
- Deep insights into CART and CHAID
- Analysis using decision trees
- Advantages and disadvantages
- Range of methods: Random forest and boosted trees
The training consists of lectures and demonstration of the procedures by the trainer. Generally understandable data sets from different application areas are used as examples.
Requirements
This course requires a basic knowledge of data mining.
